Health Eating and Nutrition Courses

Good health and well- being is important to all of us. Whatever we do as human beings we need good health to function properly and effectively.

It has been long recognised that what we eat affects our health either positively or negatively, research on diet confirms that what we eat has a marked effect on how we feel, as well as preventing health problems. Good nutrition is vital to health and a good understanding of food, nutrition, and health is especially important to anyone involved in the provision of food or health care. So, whether you prepare food in the home, you are involved in menu preparation in a catering institution or has an interest in health eating and nutrition then the courses we offer will equip you with the knowledge you need. These courses are accredited by the Royal Society of the Public Health (RSPH)

Our Health Eating and Nutrition Courses

Level 2 Award in Healthier Food and Special Diets
This qualification will give you a good understanding of the basic principles of nutrition which underpin the production of healthy food and preparation of special diets, and the key role of nutrition in health.
This short course is usually delivered over one day, and will be assessed by a 30 minute examination, consisting of twenty multiple choice questions

Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Healthier Food and Special Diets
This qualification is suitable for people working in catering and others who are in a position to promote healthy nutrition
Holders of this qualification will have a good understanding of the importance of balanced diets, the nutrient composition of food, nutritional needs of individuals and the preparation, presentation and promotion of healthy meals and diets.
This programme is usually delivered over four to five days, and is assessed by a two hour examination, consisting of forty multiple choice questions.

Level 4 Award in Nutrition
This qualification is suitable for individuals who require an understanding of nutrition and diet and their effect on health
The learning outcomes include coverage of the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet, the effect of diet on health and the importance of hydration.
Learners will take a single unit, Principles of Nutrition, but may add additional units at a later date to obtain the Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition for Institutional Food Services or the Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition for Physical Activity and Sport.

Level 4 Award in Nutrition
This qualification is suitable for individuals who require an understanding of nutrition and diet and their effect on health
The learning outcomes include coverage of the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet, the effect of diet on health and the importance of hydration.
Learners will take a single unit, Principles of Nutrition, but may add additional units at a later date to obtain the Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition for Institutional Food Services or the Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition for Physical Activity and Sport

Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition for Physical Activity and Sport
This qualification is suitable for individuals who require an understanding of nutrition and diet and their effect on health
The learning outcomes include coverage of the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet, the effect of diet on health and the importance of hydration. These principles are then applied to fulfilling the dietary requirements for physical activity and sport.
The qualification is divided into two units: Principles of Nutrition and Nutrition for Physical Activity and Sport. The qualification will be awarded to any learner who attains the learning outcomes for these units.

Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition for Institutional Food Services
This qualification is suitable for individuals who require an understanding of nutrition and diet and their effect on health
The learning outcomes include coverage of the nutritional requirements for a healthy diet, the effect of diet on health and the importance of hydration. These principles are then applied to fulfilling the dietary requirements for individuals utilising the catering services of a particular institutional food service.
Learners will take two units: Principles of Nutrition and one of the Nutrition for Institutional Food Services units which is applicable to their needs. The qualification will be awarded to any learner who attains the learning outcomes for these units
